Prior to teaching I was a research biologist in Ventura, California. I worked with commercial growers on the west coast to manage insect and disease problems on fruit and vegetable crops. I enjoyed working with scientists, growers, and distributors to increase the quality and yield of produce in our food chain.
I am married to Lance and have two awesome teenagers (Jessie and Dylan) that attend Salado High School. We have a couple of cats and two dogs. My classroom is home to two box turtles and Poncho the Chinchilla.
I am passionate about learning and teaching all aspects of science. I like to share that enthusiasm with my students so they understand that we are all a part of the world around us, and that our world is a part of something much larger. I hope to encourage students to become life-long learners, and to have the confidence to take on challenging endeavors.
